Responsible Gaming

Version: 1.0  |  Last Updated: 29 October 2026

1. Our Commitment

At Mero8, we believe that online gaming should always be a form of entertainment — enjoyable, controlled, and sustainable. We recognise, however, that for a portion of our players, gambling can develop into a harmful pattern that affects financial wellbeing, relationships, and mental health. Our Responsible Gaming programme exists to prevent and address those harms proactively.

We are committed to providing every player with the tools, information, and access to specialist support they need to remain in control of their gaming activity. Our internal policies require that responsible gaming principles are embedded across all areas of the platform, from account registration and payment processing to promotional communications and customer support interactions. We do not design products, offers, or communications in ways that exploit vulnerable individuals or encourage excessive play.

We actively train our support team to recognise indicators of gambling-related distress and to respond with empathy, clarity, and appropriate escalation. All players are encouraged to review this page regularly and to use the protection tools described below at any time — without judgement and without delay. This Responsible Gaming policy should be read alongside our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

2. Recognizing Problem Gambling

Problem gambling can develop gradually and is not always easy to identify from the inside. The behaviours below are recognised warning signs that your relationship with gambling may have moved beyond healthy recreation. If you answer yes to three or more of the following questions, we strongly encourage you to use one or more of the protection tools described in Section 3 and to contact a support organisation listed in Section 6.

  • Preoccupation: Do you find yourself frequently thinking about gambling — planning your next session, reliving past wins or losses, or looking for ways to fund your play — even when you are doing something else entirely?
  • Escalating stakes: Have you noticed that you need to wager larger amounts of money, or play for longer periods, to experience the same level of excitement or satisfaction you once felt with smaller bets?
  • Failed attempts to stop: Have you made repeated attempts to cut back, take a break, or quit gambling altogether, only to return to the same level of play — or a higher one — shortly after?
  • Chasing losses: After losing money, do you feel a strong compulsion to return and gamble more in an attempt to recover what you have lost, even when doing so risks further financial harm?
  • Gambling to escape: Do you gamble as a way of coping with stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness, boredom, or other emotional difficulties, rather than purely for entertainment?
  • Lying or concealment: Have you hidden the extent of your gambling from family members, friends, or colleagues — including the amount of time spent playing or the amount of money involved?
  • Financial consequences: Has gambling caused you to borrow money, sell possessions, neglect bills or essential expenses, or otherwise placed your financial security at risk?
  • Relationship or work harm: Has your gambling caused arguments, distance, or conflict with people close to you, or has it affected your performance, attendance, or reliability at work or school?
  • Restlessness when not gambling: Do you feel irritable, anxious, or unsettled when you are unable to access gambling, or when you try to reduce how much you play?
  • Guilt and regret: Do you regularly feel guilt, shame, or remorse after a gambling session, yet return to gambling shortly afterwards despite those feelings?

These indicators are not a clinical diagnosis. If you are uncertain whether your behaviour is harmful, please use the self-assessment resources provided by the organisations in Section 6, or speak to a healthcare professional.

3. Player Protection Tools

Mero8 offers a range of account-level tools that give you direct control over your gambling activity. These tools can be activated at any time by contacting our support team at [email protected] or through your account settings where available. Requests to activate protective limits or exclusions are processed promptly and are treated with complete confidentiality.

3.1. Deposit Limits

You may set a daily, weekly, or monthly maximum on the amount of real money you deposit into your account. Once a deposit limit is in place, the platform will automatically decline any deposit attempt that would cause you to exceed that threshold within the specified period. Requests to reduce a deposit limit take effect immediately. Requests to increase or remove a deposit limit are subject to a mandatory cooling-off period of at least seven (7) days before the change becomes active, giving you adequate time to reconsider.

3.2. Loss Limits

A loss limit caps the total net losses you may sustain over a defined daily, weekly, or monthly period. When your net losses reach the set threshold, further wager placement is suspended for the remainder of the period. As with deposit limits, reductions take immediate effect, while upward adjustments require a seven-day waiting period.

3.3. Session Time Limits and Reality Checks

You may request a session time limit that restricts the duration of any single gaming session. Once the limit is reached, you will be logged out automatically. You may also enable periodic reality check notifications — on-screen reminders that display your session duration and net balance at intervals you choose. These prompts are designed to break the flow of play and encourage you to reflect on whether you wish to continue.

3.4. Cooling-Off Period

A cooling-off period (also called a temporary break) allows you to pause all real-money gaming activity for a short, defined period — typically between 24 hours and 6 weeks. During a cooling-off period, you will not be able to place wagers or make deposits, but your account remains open and your funds are preserved. Cooling-off periods take effect immediately upon request and cannot be lifted early. You may contact [email protected] to initiate a cooling-off period at any time.

3.5. Self-Exclusion

Self-exclusion is a stronger measure intended for players who feel they need a more sustained break or who believe their gambling has become a serious problem. You may request self-exclusion for a minimum period of six (6) months, or on a permanent basis. During self-exclusion:

  • Your account is suspended and you are unable to log in, deposit, or wager.
  • You will be removed from all marketing and promotional communications immediately.
  • Any remaining real-money balance will be returned to you through your registered withdrawal method.
  • Reactivation of a self-excluded account is not permitted until the minimum exclusion period has elapsed, and only after a formal review process that includes a mandatory cooling-off reflection period.

We strongly recommend that players who are self-excluding also seek support from one of the organisations listed in Section 6. Self-exclusion through Mero8 applies only to this platform and does not restrict access to other gambling sites or venues.

4. Tips for Responsible Gambling

Adopting healthy gambling habits from the outset is the most effective way to ensure that gaming remains enjoyable over the long term. The following practical guidelines can help you stay in control:

  • Set a budget before you play. Decide in advance the maximum amount of money you are comfortable losing in a session and treat it as the price of entertainment, not as an investment. Use the deposit and loss limit tools in Section 3 to enforce this budget automatically.
  • Never gamble with borrowed money. Do not use funds intended for rent, bills, food, or other essential needs. Gambling should only ever involve discretionary income you can afford to lose without impacting your quality of life.
  • Treat gambling as entertainment, not income. The house edge means the platform is designed to be profitable over time. Wins are possible, but they are never guaranteed. Expecting gambling to supplement or replace income is a reliable path toward financial harm.
  • Take regular breaks. Step away from the screen at regular intervals. Continuous play diminishes judgment and increases the risk of impulsive decisions. Use session time limits to enforce structured breaks.
  • Do not gamble under the influence. Alcohol, recreational substances, and certain medications impair decision-making and risk assessment. Avoid gambling when your judgment is compromised.
  • Balance gambling with other activities. A healthy lifestyle includes a variety of pursuits. If gambling is increasingly crowding out other hobbies, social activities, or responsibilities, that imbalance is worth addressing promptly.
  • Keep track of time and money spent. Review your account transaction and session history regularly. Awareness of actual spending often differs significantly from subjective impressions and can prompt timely self-correction.
  • Reach out early. If you notice any of the warning signs in Section 2, do not wait until the situation has escalated. Speaking to someone — whether a friend, a family member, or a professional — is a sign of strength, not weakness.

5. Protection of Minors

The minimum legal age to register and play on Mero8 is 18 years. We operate a strict zero-tolerance policy toward underage gambling. No individual under the age of 18 is permitted to open an account, deposit funds, or participate in any real-money gaming activity on this platform.

5.1. Age Verification

We apply age and identity verification checks as part of our account registration and ongoing compliance procedures. We reserve the right to request documentary evidence of age — such as a government-issued identification document — at any point, and to suspend or permanently close any account where satisfactory proof of age cannot be provided. Any funds deposited by an underage player will be returned and any winnings will be forfeited.

5.2. Parental and Guardian Controls

If you share a device or computer with minors, we strongly urge you to take the following precautions:

  • Never leave your Mero8 account logged in on a shared device.
  • Use a strong, unique password that is not accessible to others in your household.
  • Install third-party parental control or content-filtering software on shared devices. Tools such as Net Nanny, Kaspersky Safe Kids, and Gamban (which specifically blocks access to gambling sites and applications) are recommended for households with children.
  • Explain age restrictions to young people in your care in age-appropriate terms.

5.3. Reporting Underage Access

If you suspect that a minor has accessed or is using a Mero8 account, please report this immediately to [email protected]. We will investigate all such reports promptly and take appropriate action, including permanent account closure and, where required, referral to relevant authorities.

6. Support Resources
